Same-Day Denture Repair & Relines
Dentures and partial dentures are removable dental appliances designed to fill the gaps left by missing permanent teeth.
Partial dentures are mainly used to replace one or a few missing teeth. They keep your remaining permanent teeth aligned in place by preventing surrounding teeth from shifting. This is especially important because as teeth shift, they increase the likelihood of food particles and bacteria becoming trapped in harder to reach areas. This can lead to decay, infection, and even tooth loss if left untreated.
Like partial dentures, full dentures restore the function of your smile, but rather for a full row of your teeth instead of one or a few.
Maintaining Your Dentures
Dentures should be examined and cleaned, and the patient’s mouth examined, annually. The dentist should check for infections under the denture, for signs of irritation from the denture, and for angular cheilitis, which is a common sore at each corner of the mouth and requires prescription treatment to heal. We recommend a yearly “re-care” appointment for each denture wearer to check the fit of the appliance and the patient’s oral health.
It is incredibly important to have damaged and dysfunctional dentures repaired and fixed. Without fully functional dentures, the form and shape of your mouth and gums will change. The best way to prevent this from happening is to make sure your dentures are repaired and are made to be fully functional for your mouth.
